Jim Kesey was born and spent most of his formative years in the Willamette valley of Western Oregon. He is a Graduate of Colorado State University and the United States Marine Coprs Officer's Canidate School in Quantico Virginia. He Served as Infantry Officer at Camp Pendleton, California, then later in DaNang and Chu Li, Vietnam.

Jim Kesey started his professional career as a Youth Director for the YMCA, and continues to work with the youth for most of his adult life. He is retired Juvenile Counselor and still works part-time.
Kesey's first novel "What Am I Doing Here?" , published in 2001, was based on his personal experiences in Vietnam. A nonstop adventure of honor, brotherhood, and courage, that captures the heart and soul of the Vietnam War.
Kesey's second novel "A Good Place To Die", was published in 2016,
